About Us

Our mission is to simplify the educational process and create a sanctuary of knowledge for seniors.

Our Story

In early 2024, our CEO Yigal Bruk established the Gal Senior Care Foundation in response to a disheartening trend: an alarming surge in scams targeting seniors. Disturbed by the lack of substantial action, he resolved to intervene directly. The crux of the problem lies in the scattered nature of educational resources on senior fraud, often buried in websites inaccessible to the very demographic they aim to protect. Shockingly, statistics from Florida Atlantic University’s “Fraud On The Elderly” report revealed that 63% of senior fraud victims opt not to report the incidents. In 2022, the FBI reported a staggering $3.1 billion loss in the United States alone due to fraud.

As technology advances, so does the vulnerability of seniors to scams. Our mission is to simplify the educational process and create a sanctuary of knowledge for seniors. Through weekly and monthly hands-on workshops, seminars, and presentations, we aim to empower seniors with practical tools and insights. These events will be held at local community centres, retirement homes, public libraries, and other relevant establishments, ensuring accessibility to all.

Moreover, we recognize the devastating impact of financial fraud on seniors’ livelihoods. Many find themselves in retirement, robbed of their hard-earned savings. That’s why we’ve launched the NIKKI Program, offering seniors a lifeline—a chance to reclaim their financial stability and enjoy their golden years without fear. Through this initiative, seniors can apply for assistance, providing them with the support they need to thrive.

Our Directors

Yigal Bruk

Founder

Our Founder was born in Israel and is of Ukrainian heritage. Before pursuing his passion for medicine, he honed his football (soccer) skills, playing professionally in Germany. He is currently enrolled in the Neuroscience Program at York University in Toronto.

“Growing up in Israel I was raised mostly by my grandparents, having immigrated from Ukraine they didn’t have much money, nevertheless always made sure to save enough to buy me an ice cream. After we moved to Canada, the language barrier was very difficult for them, and my grandpa who is now in his mid-70s is still working full-time as a soviet-food chef.”

The spark for his dedication to senior care advocacy ignited from personal experiences.

“Seeing news stories of seniors being scammed out of their savings or struggling in their later years really hit home for me. Looking into preventative measures, I was shocked to find such a lack of support. It hit me hard that if my own grandpa could be vulnerable, then so could countless others. That’s when I knew I had to step up and do something.”

In addition to his work with youth, Matthew serves on the Board of Directors for GSC and is excited to help the older demographic against these “heinous” crimes. We are thrilled to have Matthew onboard and he will play a key role in our transition of expanding into the United States later down the road.
